From The Catholic University of America
The Catholic University of America is a jewel in the nation’s capital — 176 green acres in an urban setting — welcoming undergraduate and graduate students from all religious traditions and around the globe. There is a Metrorail stop next to campus, so Washington, D.C., attractions are all within easy reach.
Given the location, politics is a popular major. The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art offers a magnet for creative types. The Conway School of Nursing is one of the best in the nation, and the School of Engineering is among the few in the competitive national Grand Challenges program. The School of Architecture and Planning offers a rare classical architecture concentration.

I am a rising sophom*ore at the Catholic University of America. In my first year, I experienced a lot of good things and some things I would change. To begin I very much enjoy my Focus of study. I love the psychology department and feel very prepared and supported on my journey to become a doctor. As a premed student our advisors help you get your goal without filling over. I’ve met some nice people along the way very helpful. Living in DC is overall great because you get so much going to school at the same time. One thing I would like to see the diversity. There are not many students that look like me on the campus and although that is okay I often feel excluded and looked at differently. I look forward to my second year and already having experience. I feel as though I know it to expect, but I am also open to new things. I hope to see more people who look like me and I’m excited to meet people who look like me and see how it is.

Overall a great university both academically and socially. The professors are very helpful and supportive and there is a sense of unity in the students body. There are so many activities, clubs, sports to participate in and so much to do on and off campus. It’s in the heart of DC with its own Metro stop so traveling around DC is easy.

So far, I am very pleased with my experience at Catholic. The campus is beautiful, and the students/professors are extremely welcoming. Being a student athlete, I am challenged both academically and physically. I am a nursing major and have enjoyed my learning experience so far. A new nursing school has just finished being built, and I am excited to have classes in it next year. Being in the city has offered me an opportunity that I would not have at other schools. D.C. has so much to offer, and I am looking forward to continuing school next fall.
An iPad would help tremendously with my studies. Being a nursing major, it is a very hands on study. Having an iPad would allow me to look at my slides, course pages, and do online simulations easier than it would be on another device. I would love to be considered for this opportunity. Thank you.
